Objectives & the Future:
To inspire &
develop growth in the economy, by focusing on the
Coffee, Agriculture &
Business in general. To further raise the living standards of the
rural population by increasing their productivity as a working/performing
individual.
This is attempted through interaction of the general
public with the educational &
informative exhibits at the festival.
Industries within the wider community of PNG & internationally
are invited to participate in
this annual event. It provides an opportunity to showcase
their products & services.
Not only is the event significant for the growth &
sustainability of industry, it provides an excellent
environment to help educate & inspire our children.
Indeed, children & students are a key group who are
encouraged to participate at the Festivals' activities as a
learning & personal growth experience.
Event History & Founder:
Norman
Carver, the founder started the event in 2001. The first
event started
with only a handful of exhibitors & participants - and has since grown
rapidly. The 2006 event boasted the participation of
approximately 90 companies
& individuals as
exhibitors & sponsors.
Profits: The PNG Coffee Festival has been
incorporated into a non-profit association.
With any surplus monies being being donated to charity &
secondly retained for future events .
At the Event: There will be approximately
50 x Traditional singsing groups, 10 x
Traditional Song
Groups; dozens of other entertainment acts.
Scores of exhibitors from all fields of industry & walks of life.
Examples of the type of
displays: coffee roasting & sampling; coffee
& agriculture extension & advisory services;
computer /radio technology to remote
areas; school exhibits; gold
& silver prospecting
information & equipment; farming techniques
& new crops; fisheries & livestock; fruit
growing & seedlings;
conservation / ecology displays; social groups; health & medical
research; eye checking on site; horse riding; fairyfloss for
kids; production of a
newspaper; wine, jam & soap making; information about university & business college courses;
vocational school stalls; Kainantu pottery; other crafts; cabinet making &
joinery.......&
